What WorldShelf collects
WorldShelf stores language, market, and translation-search preferences in your browser so the site can keep your selected experience across visits.
The site may receive a Cloudflare country code to set first-visit defaults. WorldShelf does not store your IP address in the application.
Commerce intent events
When you click an original-edition purchase link or translated-edition search link, the site records a lightweight commerce intent event. The event can include the action, country, buyer market, category, rank, title, ISBN, and timestamp. This helps improve purchase paths and affiliate reporting.
A short recent history is stored locally in your browser. The same event is sent to the site endpoint
/api/commerce, which currently acknowledges the event but does not store it.
Reviews and reader reactions
WorldShelf does not store or republish full third-party review text. It uses source links, ranking signals, metadata, and recurring themes to show conservative reader-reaction summaries.
Advertising and affiliate links
WorldShelf may use affiliate links and advertising in the future. If Google AdSense or another advertising product is enabled, advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies and applicable consent requirements.
